Featured blog post from ServiceMaster of Bethlehem

One of the most commonly asked questions ServiceMaster of Bethlehem receives is, do I have mold? Often times, a home or business owner will ask our experts how to determine if they have mold, and how to remove it.

Signs of mold:

  • Musty/strange smell
  • Visual growth or discoloration on walls
  • Allergies acting up (i.e. – runny nose, itchy eyes, etc.)
  • Signs of recent water or flood damage

Mold negatively impacts your health and can lead to structural damage. It should be treated right away by trained professionals. If mold is discovered, do not try to clean it yourself. Sprays and chemicals can often worsen the issue.

At ServiceMaster of Bethlehem, our restoration professionals will respond to your home or business and take air samples. These samples are immediately sent out to a lab to be tested for mold spores present. When the data is returned, our team reviews the results and reports back to you, fast.

If harmful mold is identified, we will develop a comprehensive mold remediation plan to clean any affected areas and carefully remove any mold-damaged materials that cannot be saved. After clean-up services are provided, an independent certified industrial hygienist takes final air samples and tests them to confirm that your spore count is back to normal.

Don’t know what to do next? We do. If you believe that you may have mold, contact ServiceMaster of Bethlehem at 1-800-253-7366 to set up a mold test site visit. Your local restoration professionals have the right tools and training to assist with mold damage, and get you back into a clean, healthy home.

Thanks for elaborating how molds have this distinct smell that may trigger your allergies upon exposure. My friend plans to acquire his uncle's old property since it's around his university, and it makes it easier for him to study. I think he should try finding a mold expert before moving into his new home as a preventive measure.

Mold can be found anywhere in a house or office. No one like mold to grow in their house anywhere. So, you need to hire professional cleaners for its better removal as your normal cleaning doesn't stop it from coming back again. Thank you for the lovely read. Got a lot of new information.

I appreciate you helping me to understand that itchy eyes and a runny nose can be a sign that there is mold in your home. This past week, I have been very congested and have been having a hard time breathing at night. I thought this might have been a case of allergies, but if there is mold in my home I am going to need to get that removed as soon as possible.

Mold often grows due to water damage or high humidity in your home. A successful mold remediation process will tackle mold spores in every corner of your home including airborne spores.

Absolutely! Exposure to damp and moldy environments may cause a variety of health effects or none at all. Some people are sensitive to molds. For these people, exposure to molds can lead to symptoms such as stuffy nose, wheezing, and red or itchy eyes, or skin.

Thank you for explaining how you might have mold if your allergies are acting up. My daughter was complaining about her allergies earlier today which I thought was strange given the time of year. I'll have to check out our house for mold and see about getting it fixed soon.

It got me when you discussed that mold can cause structural damage if not treated right away. That's probably why my friend wants to remove the mold from their house. I should advise her to hire an expert in mold removal to ensure quality work.

I love that you talked about how molds could provide health and property problems when not treated properly. My cousin told me yesterday that he was hoping to find a mold service as they have molds in their basement walls and floors due to recent water damage. He asked if I had thoughts on the best option to consider. I appreciate this valuable article, I'll tell him he can consult mold removal services as they can help them with their mold problems.

Thank you for pointing out that mould can cause structural damage and be harmful to your health. My grandfather claimed that mould was present in his home. I will contact a mould testing company to evaluate his home since I am concerned about how the mould will affect his health.

I have an uncle who wants to start a freight company in a few months, so he's buying new trucks to get his operations started. I liked what you explained about monitoring your vehicle's fan belts daily to make sure they work, so I'm positive that this will be helpful for my uncle in the future. Thanks for explaining how preventive maintenance helps you increase your engine's lifespan.

I totally agree when you said that molds can affect our health and the structural integrity of our house. I should probably look for professionals to check on our property this weekend. It's because I think the black spots starting on the walls of our outdoor kitchen are enough signs.
