If I were to ask your employees “what’s it like to work for your company or organization?” what would they say? Not what you think they might say but what would they really say? Most organizations really don’t know because they never ask. Many of the assignments that clients would seek my help with involved finding answers or solutions to some major issue or issues that had arisen within the workforce. In most cases it would be a problem that had been festering for a long period of time but was never dealt with because management never realized was there or was an issue that they didn’t know how to deal with. And it is important to note that these types of problems occur in small as well as large companies. When a workforce becomes upset or angry over some issue or issues it is very difficult to resolve them. And then we have to restore their faith in their managers. Dealing with workforce issues are often times complicated and they are time consuming and expensive. In many cases it has become an emotional challenge for organizations managers and employees. The good news is we can avoid these challenges by taking the right steps to stay in tune with those who work for us. Culture and relationship with your workforce are paramount to running a successful entity that employees want to work for. This topic is one that I addressed in my book “In the Trenches” because I found it to be consistently problematic with many of my clients. Our book addresses this and many other practical approaches to workplace challenges. Our website is reggiehockenberry.com.
